It’s the holidays! The time of year for families to gather together to celebrate traditions, share old memories, and make new ones. This year, as you surround yourself with family and friends, both two-legged and four-legged alike, remember there are millions of dogs in shelters, patiently waiting for a family of their own. For some, this won’t be their first, second, or even their EIGHTH Christmas without a family of their own.
It’s our Christmas wish that every dog in rescue would find a home for the holidays, so we’ve selected 12 special dogs from around the country that have been overlooked time and time again. Some are senior dogs, some have special needs, and some are passed over for reasons we simply can’t understand – but, they all deserve to spend the holidays with a family of their own.
We’re calling this the 12 Dogs of Christmas! The Dogington Post along with our friends at Halo® Purely for Pets® have joined forces to introduce you to 12 needy dogs in hopes that they’ll finally get noticed…and maybe get a home for the holidays!
Name of Rescue Organization: Chesterfield County SC Animal Services (South Carolina)
How long at shelter/rescue: Katrina has been at the shelter since 2015 – more than 2 YEARS!
Type/Size/Sex: Carolina Dog Mix, Medium 53 pounds, Female
Katrina was surrendered to the Chesterfield County SC Animal Services shelter in 2015 by owners that couldn’t afford veterinary care. When she was surrendered, she suffered from a horrible prolapsed uterus that her owners had let her endure for far too long.
Katrina LOVES all people and is a super super sweet girl. She can play with others with supervision, but needs to eat alone and doesn’t doesn’t like males sniffing her bottom.
Likes: She absolutely loves toys, running, and playing with people!
Dislikes: Katrina prefers human playmates over other dogs as she doesn’t like curious dogs sniffing her heinie. The shelter thinks its because of her uterus being prolapsed for so long before she was rescued.
Special Considerations: Katrina would probably thrive best as an only pet due to her past neglect. She needs a fenced in yard as she loves loves to run and play.
Katrina’s Perfect Family:
Katrina’s perfect family would be energetic and adventurous, perhaps a family with children that love to run and play, or someone that would take her jogging with them to burn off energy. She would prefer to be an only dog.
Katrina will soon face another Christmas without a family all her own.
Does Katrina seem like the perfect fit for your family? Here’s how to begin the adoption process:

Will Katrina finally find her forever with you?
