Send in the Clones: Barbra Streisand Cloned Her Beloved Dog – Twice!

Following the death of her beloved dog, Samantha, ‘Funny Girl’ Barbra Streisand successfully cloned the Coton de Tulear she adored so much – twice!

In an interview with Variety, Streisand revealed that two of her prized pups were actually cloned using cells taken from the mouth and stomach of her 14-year old dog before she passed away in 2017.

Because the pups were identical, Streisand dressed the girls in red and purple tops in order to tell them apart – which ultimately contributed to their names – Miss Scarlet and Miss Violet, respectively.

While the girls look like the beloved dog that inspired their births, Streisand said “they have different personalities.”

“I’m waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have her [Samantha’s] brown eyes and seriousness.”

The girls, along with Streisand’s third dog, Miss Fanny, a distant cousin of Samantha’s, make frequent appearances on the star’s Instagram page.

Happy New Year from my three girls… Pink, Blue & Violet.
