Police are investigating allegations of abuse against a Florida dog groomer after a former employee finally captured video of the salon owner shaking and choking a dog in her care.

Briana Brady, a former employee at Happy Puppy Pet Spa in Venice, Florida, took to social media after witnessing daily acts of abuse against dogs at the grooming salon by the salon’s owner, Phyllis Lucca, and finally capturing video of the groomer abusing a dog in her care.

With video evidence in hand, she notified the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office who had recently received reports of another dog who’d left the salon two weeks earlier with a broken jaw and a bruised chest.

Brady said in her Facebook post that she’s witnessed multiple acts of mishandling pets.

“This is what this horrible woman does every day to every dog. She even broke a dog’s jaw two weeks ago,” Brady wrote. “She picked the dog up by the neck and shook it and slammed it on the table.”

Despite the shocking video evidence, groomer and salon owner, Phyllis Lucca denies any wrongdoing. She claims that the dog seen in the video with her had fainted, that she picked her up and shook her to revive her.

“If you see the video, I know it looks bad, but that’s not what I’m doing,” Lucca said to WFTX. “What the dog did was pass out and she faints and what I did was hold her head and shake her. That’s all.”

At this time, no charges have been filed against Lucca. Findings from the police investigation will be forwarded to the State Attorney for consideration.

Meanwhile, both the owner of Pumkin, the Poodle whose jaw was broken, and former employee Briana Brady intend to press charges.
