Detroit Dog Rescue staff are hoping someone will step forward with information about a dog abandoned at their shelter overnight.
When Detroit Dog Rescue staff arrived at the shelter Tuesday morning, they discovered the body of a Pomeranian mix that had been dumped at their door in the middle of the night, when the shelter was not open.
The dog was left outside the Detroit Dog Rescue’s Harper Avenue location on the city’s east side, inside a crate and unable to escape to find warmth, while outside temperatures plummeted to a subfreezing 5-degrees Fahrenheit. The dog did not survive the night.
The rescue posted two screenshots from surveillance footage that captured the abandonment, in hopes that someone will recognize the person responsible or the vehicle they were driving and step forward.
“Although we know this is abandonment, we really want to speak to the person to determine the full story,” the Facebook post reads.
Anyone with information on the man is asked to call Detroit Dog Rescue at 313-458-8014 or e-mail [email protected] Tipsters may remain anonymous.
