The Toy Fox Terrier, also known as the American Toy Terrier or simply Amertoy, is a breed of small, muscular dog that originated in United States. It belongs to the toy breed family which is remarkable for their distinct personality and excellent hunting skills. Toy Fox Terriers have been initially bred to hunt rats, but later become more like of a reliable family companion. Their short, thick coat usually comes in a tri-color pattern with white as its predominant shade, along with black and tan markings.

Height and Weight

Both the male and female members of the Toy Fox Terrier breed normally stand a height of 10 in at the withers, and weigh between 3 ½ to 7 lbs.

Additionally, Amertoys are highly intelligent, trainable pets that can be taught to assist people with handicaps around the home. Others make exceptional hearing companions for the deaf. Amertoys, nonetheless, require firm yet gentle human leadership. Handlers have to demonstrate confident and consistent authority over them. Otherwise, these terriers will develop the Small Dog Syndrome which is expressed through various behavior problems.

Grooming
