In one of the cases, a healthy 8-year-old bulldog named Scruffles died and PetSmart allegedly did not answer any questions about what could have caused his death. Later, they released a statement offering condolences but saying their staff followed all the appropriate procedures.

In another case, a Shih Tzu named George suffered a back injury after being groomed at the PetSmart. He had to be confined to a cage for 10 days to keep from injuring himself more. His owner also did not hear anything back from the store about what may have caused the injury.
