Advice from Andis Educator, Nicole Kallish

We’re all looking a little rougher around the edges as a result of worldwide shut-downs, quarantines, and safer-at-home initiatives—and that includes our family dogs!

Luckily, there are a few easy steps you can take at home to keep your dog looking and feeling great until they’re ready to see their favorite groomer again.

1. Brush Away – It is important in-between grooms to brush your dog regularly, especially in spring and fall when shedding coats are at their peak. Make sure to follow up with a comb and get down to the skin. This will prevent your pet’s hair from matting and getting tangled.

2.Trim Up – Coat getting out of hand? Use a trimmer for a quick and easy on-the-go clean-up for paw pads, belly, face and behind the ears.

3. Keep Them Short – If there is a long period of time in-between a groom, it can be beneficial to have a nail grinder to help shorten and round out your pet’s nails before they are clipped at the groomer.
