One thing to be aware of is how much a Collie enjoys eating. They will eat large amounts of food if available thus they are prone to gain more weight than is healthy. A good rule of thumb is to feed the dog a measured amount of quality dog food twice a day. And see to it the dog receives plenty of exercise.
Training these dogs can be a bit hard because of the stubborn streak many have but this can be dealt with by beginning obedience training when the dog is a puppy Collies are generally very healthy dogs with only a general deterioration of the eye sight as they age into senior years.
If you want a great family dog, especially for children, check out the Collie breed. You won’t be disappointed!

says:I’ve had a few collies, and every one of them have been outstanding dogs. My current two are rescues from Collie Rescue in Fairfax, VA. They are all the article said about them and more. My I would say that Collies don’t need a whole lot of exercise other than a good long walk, and are most happy spending time with their families.
My Smooth Collie is like the perfect guy! He can walk for miles but loves nothing better than lying with his head on my chest, staring into my eyes! Best dog in the whole world!
