According to Guinness World Records, a dog from California is currently the “World’s Oldest Living Dog.”

Gino is a 22-year-old Chihuahua and Eskimo mix.

When Gino was two years old, Alex Wolf, a sophomore in college at the University of Colorado Boulder, adopted him from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Today said that while attending the University of Colorado Boulder, he and his housemates took care of Gino.

Because it felt like “the more responsible thing to do at that point,” Wolf moved his dog home to Southern California for the summer to live with his parents while he finished his studies, where Gino learned to love sunbathing outside and living like a celebrity.

Gino assisted Wolf after he graduated from college by supporting him through significant life changes such as moving into an apartment, becoming a realtor, purchasing a home, and just before the pandemic, meeting his girlfriend Rebecca Grenell.

Wolf, now 40 years old, said, “He’s been there every step of the way. I’m so glad we got him. He’s the best.”

Pebbles, a Toy Fox Terrier, previously held the title of “World’s Oldest Dog.” The dog passed away on October 3, according to a press release issued by the record book.
