A Florida news reporter and her photographer were in the right place at the right time on Wednesday, able to capture a disturbing site on video.

WPBF News reporter Terri Parker was driving southbound on the Florida Turnpike when she witnessed a dog tied to the back of a flatbed truck traveling down the highway. Disturbed by what she was seeing, the reporter pulled over and had her photographer begin recording.

Here’s what they captured:

Parker sent the video to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and to Animal Control and Care who quickly tracked down the driver of the truck.

The owner of the Belgian Malinois named ‘Gotcha’, was charged with improper transport of an animal and fined $340.

Remember, if you see something, say something. Hundreds of other drivers must certainly have witnessed this without stepping forward to stop it. We must be their voice.

If it’s legal to put a dog in the bed of a truck, then you should make it illegal. It’s no worse than leaving it in a regular pickup bed if he’s tied.
