Officer Aiming at Dog Accidentally Shoots Himself

A South Florida police officer was aiming his gun at a “charging dog” when he accidentally shot himself instead.

A Davie Police officer was handling a “non-criminal” incident at a Davie, Florida mobile home community in the early morning hours of December 20 when he was reportedly charged by a dog.

The unnamed officer “suffered an accidental gunshot wound to the hand when he attempted to shoot at a dog that charged at him,” Davie Police Lt. Mark Leone told The Sun Sentinel.

The dog, a female Boxer, was also grazed by the bullet and is doing fine.
