It’s the season of LOVE!
Despite what one may think they know about love, one never knows the real feeling until adopting a pet. The love, affection, loyalty and appreciation rescued dogs show are unparalleled.
So, this Valentine’s Day season, The Dogington Post along with PetGiftBox.com are helping to spread the word about 7 adoptable pups that have been looking for love for more than a year in the hope that they all get adopted in time for Valentine’s Day.
For some, this won’t be their first, second, or even their third Valentine’s Day behind bars.
Every dog deserves to be loved, so we’ve selected 7 special dogs from around the country that have been overlooked time and time again. Some are senior dogs, some have special needs, and some are passed over for reasons we simply can’t understand – but, they all deserve to spend their lives with a family of their own.
Meet Rocky Tivo!
Rocky Tivo is a very handsome 9 year old Beagle. He came to Beagles & Buddies, located in Apple Valley, CA, in the summer of 2013. He had been with his previous family since birth – two adults and one toddler. He snipped at the youngster when the child was about three years old – no problems since. Rocky is originally from Chicago where he had some allergies that troubled him – California weather is much more to his liking. He was on medication for that but now he only needs it when something triggers an allergy (which hasn’t occurred in years.)
Beagles & Buddies is honored to be his second chance at a new home.
Rocky would LOVE to be in his furrever home just in time for this very loving holiday.
A little more about me…
Dog’s Name: Rocky TIVO
Age: 9 years
How long at shelter/rescue: 2.5 years!
Type/Size/Sex: Rocky is about 35 pounds. He is a gorgeous tri color and is also a very well bred Beagle – neutered, of course, up to date on all vaccines. He has also had a very recent dental (teeth cleaning) at the vet’s and full blood panel which is good. He is in very good health.
Likes: Rocky T loves treats – a great way to bond with him is providing the goods – not too many as to not over do it. Although he isn’t overly affectionate, he enjoys curling up by your legs. He would like to go for walks as he needs to be kept in shape for his health. Rocky was in a foster home for a few months where he enjoyed walks on the beach. His favorite thing to do was to curl up on the couch – he is a very EZ going guy.
Dislikes: Rocky T doesn’t dislike older considerate children, but they’re really not his “cup of tea.” Sometimes young kids give pooches lovin’ without getting permission first. He would not like handsy children and he also does not like to share his food – Beagles and their food!
Special considerations: He is good with other dogs, cats, and older kids, as visitors. He needs to be kept on a strict diet as he has low thyroid – it’s very inexpensive medicine that you can hide into his food twice daily. Green beans also help manage his weight….he can eat as many of them as he likes in any form…fresh, frozen, canned.
The perfect family or home for Rocky T: He would love to be in a home as an only dog, in a quiet, adult only home, and with peeps who can manage his wants/needs.
